An Eco-friendly, Money Saving Tip

Whoever thought those tiny plastic cups that flight attendants give you with 20 measly drops of rain will keep you hydrated for a 14 hour flight is beyond me…and it’s a depressing waste of landfill too. An eco-friendly and healthy money saving tip is to travel with drink bottles. We use SIGG drink bottles and once we’re past security, fill them up for the flight.

You can fill them up with potable tap water available on the plane or if you have concerns about the water quality, ask your friendly hostess with the mostess to fill up your canister with bottled water. In my experience they’re always happy to oblige. You’ll arrive to your new destination hydrated and save yourself a huge amount of money not buying bottled water daily while you’re overseas. Not to mention the airport prices where you can pay up the equivalent of 4 Coronas for one bottle of water!

If water isn’t drinkable where you’re going invest in a steri-pen, an ultra violet water purification tool which will also do the trick!

Love our Sigg water bottles, they cost a pretty penny but they’re well worth the investment. I want to try the lifestraw suggestion too, looks like a winner.

So important to keep hydrated, I always take it for the kids, I don’t know why I never thought of it for us.
